Dragon Keeper by Caroline Wilkinson

This is a story about a Chinese servant girl in the palace of her cruel master, a supposed Dragon keeper . She helps tend to two royal palace dragons. the day that one of them died she finds out that she is the real Dragon Keeper and her master was trying to hide that fact. She travels on a journey with the other dragon, Danzi, to bring his dragon stone to the legendary Ocean, but they must avoid obstacles like a dragon hunter named Diao and a necromancer greedy for their dragon stone, which turns out to be a baby egg. Danzi leaves her to raise the dragon on an island in the Ocean and instructs her to name the baby Kai Duan, which means beginning. the next book in the series is about how they must continue to elude the necromancer and the emperor, who wants to use the dragons blood to keep him immortal.

Whoa, sounds interesting! Is there a copy in the school library?

I think there is a copy in the school library but it might be in the Middle school library as it is a rather thick book, but it's very action packed all the same!
